Stark Mask Naked

Peel off that
Paper mask
And let me see
Those eyes,
Stark naked

About to glisten
With a warm,
Warm,
Light

The ones
About to shed
A cold, cold,
Tear

Peel off that
Paper mask
And let me see
Those eyes,
Stark naked

Pull down
That cozy blanket,
The one you borrowed,
The one you never
Handed back

It's surely
Soft,
And velvet blue,
And anti-Covid
Veil-wrapped

Peel off that
Paper mask
And let me see
Those eyes,
Stark naked

Tearfully
Bright

The ones
About to shine
With cold,
Cold,
Might

Do not burn,
Just yet
Nor cry,
Nor
Lick your
Fancy whiskers,
Either,

Unless you are
Stark mask naked,
Your soul,
Undressed,
A warm,
Oh, once so warm,
Warm,
Heart

About to shed
A cold, cold
Tear,
That winter flame,
Ablaze,
Before
Unblinking
Eyes
